Extra, Extra! Conquer Mystery Pain Here!

Extra, extra! Read all about our very own Dr. Jessica Papa, who was recently featured in the Warwick Beacon as their business spotlight! They chose to highlight Dr. Jess and Arancia Physical Therapy due to our unique and holistic approach to healing, as well as our success in being able to aide in conquering the mystery pain of all of our patients! โ€œConquering mystery pain is the personal mission of Dr. Jessica Papa, PT, DPT.  It is also the title of a book she has written on this timely and often urgent topic. Patients from around the region ~and well-beyond through the advances of tele-medicine ~ come to Arancia Physical Therapy to find relief through Dr. Jessโ€™s unique approach to the alleviation of chronic pain.โ€

For those of you who donโ€™t know our origin story, Dr. Jess in the months and years leading up to the opening of Arancia Physical Therapy, was growing more and more frustrated by treating in the traditional physical therapy model. Only a few years after graduating with her doctorate, Dr. Jess was beginning to feel burned out. Her career took a dramatic turn when she decided to take a myofascial release course with John F. Barnes, the developer of the Myofascial Release approach. This was a turning point for Dr. Jess as it is the adoption of this unique approach to the management of pain that changed her entire way of thinking and practicing.

In this course and through many thereafter, she was able to grasp the complex myofascial system. It is a โ€œlong-misunderstood web of connective tissue that is spread through the human body from head to foot without interruption.โ€ With her deep understanding of the Myofascial system, Dr. Jess employs a series of effective hands-on techniques that apply gentle pressure into that tissue to eliminate pain and restore motion. This is called Myofascial Release. For Dr. Jessโ€™s patients, most of whom have already exhausted every other traditional physical therapy intervention, Myofascial Release has quite literally changed their lives.

Patients choose to work with the Arancia Physical Therapy team not because we utilize this effective approach, but because we utilize every tool in our toolbox in order to get patients their outcomes. The biggest part of this, is listening. Every person has a different story, a different set of circumstances, insecurities, pain points, personalities, and history that got them here. We really take pride in taking the time to understand all of these pieces in order to provide and individualized and effective service. Dr. Jess knows that the best way to heal, is by peeling back the layers and getting to the root of the issue. This can only be done by looking at not just the whole body, but the whole person!

It is always her mission to teach patients as much as possible about their bodies so they feel empowered and confident to self-treat on a daily basis. Helping patients achieve pain relief is easy, the challenge is conquering pain for good, and this is when Dr. Jessโ€™s ongoing coaching becomes so important. This is also why we have the E-course for our patients and for anyone who is too far or too busy, the podcast, and the book! Even just being able to read or hear about your specific problem can be the first step towards healing. Identifying a need to heal is always the first step.
