Law of Attraction: How Your Thoughts Can Influence Your Success
The Law of Attraction states that positive thoughts attract positive experiences into your life, and negative thoughts attract negative experiences. In other words, your thoughts and feelings have a direct correlation to what happens in your life. The energy of your thoughts manifests your experiences, whether you realize it or not. The “power of the mind” is something that can directly affect your physical body and your physical surroundings alike. In relation to physical therapy, in particular, Dr. Jess talks about the mind/body connection in her first book, Conquering Mystery Pain. She mentions how there is a direct connection between the thoughts of the mind and how that has an effect on our physical well-being. For example, when we experience physical or emotional trauma, the stress affects our brain, and this leads to us carrying that pain and trauma deep within our fascia, which leads to unexplained physical pain in other areas of the body. This mind/body connection shows itself within the physical body, and within our physical surroundings and experiences as well.
The Law of Attraction may seem like a difficult concept to grasp at first, but what is interesting about it is that it is not just a theory- there are actually scientific explanations to back it up. Quantum physics explores how our thoughts are the source of reality. Everything that we see and experience is a product of energy. We are all connected through an energy field called the “collective consciousness”, which responds to our thoughts and emotions by creating reality. You essentially are what you think. So, if you want to change the experiences you are having on the outside, you must first change the thoughts you are thinking on the inside. You must change the intention of your thoughts because what you think directly influences how you feel, and how you feel directly influences how your body reacts, and how your body reacts directly influences how you behave, and how you behave directly correlates to what experiences you have in your day to day life and how you interact with others. So if you think you’re a failure, you’ll feel like a failure. Then, you’ll act like a failure, which reinforces your belief that you must be a failure, which will get other people to validate this "reality." The same can be said if you turn those negative thoughts around and start to think, instead, that you are a success.
The thing is, it is not always easy to think positively, especially when things are already not going our way or if we feel extremely stressed. The secret is to learn how to train your mind to turn negative thoughts into positive ones, and to have the patience to wait and see the Law of Attraction actually begin to work its magic. Luckily, there are a few ways that we can train ourselves to do this to make our deepest desires a reality. If you are a beginner, here are some simple ways that you can use this law to your advantage, and how to manifest success and health through your own thoughts:
-Practice Positive Self Mantras: Coming up with simple positive sayings to repeat to yourself every day will greatly impact your subconscious, and therefore have a positive impact on not only your physical body but your mental health as well. This will also impact what happens around you, and you will start to see the results day after day. These mantras could be something like “I am worthy of love, health, and happiness” or “I get everything that I want because I am worth it”. You can feel free to get creative here!
-Journaling: Writing down your feelings and thoughts can be a positive form of self-therapy. Start training yourself to begin writing down the things that you want to attract into your life by coming from a place of already having them. Instead of saying “I want this”, start writing down “I am so grateful that I have this”. Try this type of journaling every night before bed. It is also a healthier way to wind down rather than staring at your phone on social media before bed, which can be harmful to your sleep and mental health.
Meditation: Taking some time during the day to sit down and close your eyes and focus on your breathing is an extremely beneficial way to relax your mind and body while envisioning the things that you want to happen for you. Try this method and begin practicing and controlling your breathing. Make sure you are in a relaxed environment. While doing this, try to envision that you have everything that you want in your life, and picture it as clearly as you can. Being able to create a visual in your mind will help you to attract what you are looking for!
Vision Board: Creating a vision board is a fun and creative way to show yourself exactly what you want by putting your physical energy into it. You can create a mood or vision board however you want- there are no rules. You can start by cutting out pictures of things that represent what you want to attract, whether that be love, better finances, a certain vacation, career success, and more. Putting your physical energy into creating a vision board is a great way to attract what you are looking for. It is something uniquely your own that you made yourself, and it is something you can now look at it every day to remind yourself of your goals and to better envision them actually coming to you. This is a fun method to try with friends!
Our thoughts create our reality, and it is important to remember that this includes what happens around us and to us, as well as our physical bodies. Our bodies and minds are connected on a deep, fascial level, which is why our mental states and thoughts can cause issues within our bodies in areas that we might not even expect. This is what we call “mystery pain” here at Arancia Physical Therapy. If you find yourself struggling with mystery pain and don’t know what the cause might be or how to fix it, please reach out to us online here or at 401.602.7006.
