Do I Have to Take My Clothes Off?

The days leading up to your initial evaluation you may experience feelings of uncertainty, anticipation, or excitement. Your feelings are normal. One way to ease your mind is by learning about what your evaluation will entail.

Here is what you can expect for your initial evaluation:

Do I Have to Take My Clothes Off?

Yes. Probably. But don’t panic.

The days leading up to your initial evaluation can bring up all kinds of feelings — uncertainty, anticipation, curiosity… and sometimes the very specific thought of:

“Wait. Am I about to be half naked with a stranger?”

Totally normal. You’re not weird. You’re human.

One of the best ways to calm those nerves is simply knowing what to expect — so let’s talk about the elephant in the treatment room.

The short answer?

Yes, if you want to be treated effectively, some clothes will likely come off.
But before you picture an awkward medical drama scene — let us reassure you.

This is not a rushed, cold, fluorescent-light experience where someone barks instructions at you while you wonder why you didn’t wear better underwear.

This is Arancia Physical Therapy. 🍊
We do things very differently.

Here’s what actually happens

By the time you arrive for your initial evaluation, you’re not walking in blind. You’ve already spoken with a team member during your phone consultation and met with a therapist during your Discovery Visit. We’ve talked about your symptoms, your goals, your story — and yes, we’ve already hinted that leggings and sports bras might only get you so far.

Why? Because bodies don’t heal through fabric.

We assess posture, alignment, movement patterns, tissue restrictions, and fascial tension — and we can’t do that accurately through jeans, Spanx, or your favorite oversized hoodie (as cozy as it may be).

Let’s be clear

  • You are never exposed unnecessarily

  • You are always draped appropriately

  • You are always asked for consent

  • You are never rushed

  • And you are always treated with respect, professionalism, and a little humor when needed

We’ll explain why we’re assessing something, what we’re looking for, and how it connects to the symptoms you’re dealing with — whether that’s pelvic pain, bladder leakage, prolapse symptoms, chronic pain, or feeling like your body just hasn’t been “right” in a long time.

The goal isn’t awkward — it’s answers

Our goal is not to make you uncomfortable.
Our goal is to finally understand what’s actually going on so we can help you heal — fully, holistically, and long-term.

Most patients tell us the same thing afterward:

“That was way less awkward than I expected… and way more helpful than anything I’ve done before.”

So yes — clothes off.
But dignity intact.
Comfort prioritized.
Healing always the focus.

And if you’re still nervous? That’s okay too. We’ll walk you through every step — one layer at a time 😉

Welcome to Arancia PT. We’ve got you. 🧡
