Meet Arancia’s Newest Team Member: Mikayla!
Hey there, my name is Mikayla! I’ve been on a healing journey for over ten years now battling Lyme disease, Endometriosis, and a few other things. Pain has been a constant factor in my life since I can remember; like breathing, it became part of my ‘norm.’
In 2020 I had two surgeries for Endometriosis. The first was unsuccessful and the second I traveled up to Maine to see a specialist that was finally able to help me and remove all the Endometriosis that had made its way up into my diaphragm. After surgery, my pain was definitely much better but I was still experiencing some residual sharp pain. At my follow up my doctor recommended I see a pelvic floor therapist - I honestly had no idea what that was but I needed this pain gone so to google I went and that’s when I found Dr. Jess at Arancia! I didn’t really have any high expectations; being chronically ill I’ve seen dozens of doctors and it’s rare that you find one that actually hears you and treats YOU versus whatever your chart says.
Within the first minute of walking into the office, I knew I was in the right place and this experience would be different. After one appointment with Dr. Jess, my pain was already subsiding - I seriously couldn’t believe it. I had always been told that Endometriosis pain was something you’d “always live with” but those people were so wrong! The work Dr. Jess does isn't just focused on the ‘diagnosis’ she truly looks at the patient as an individual and goes into all the systems of the body and how to very gently assist it to work in harmony. Treatment included myofascial work, craniosacral work, and also some internal work. When you hear ‘internal’ of course it can feel a bit intimidating but Dr. Jess made me feel so comfortable.
To finally be seen by a doctor who genuinely listens and is determined to help was a feeling I had never experienced and one I’ll forever be grateful for. Thanks to a successful surgery and the care Dr. Jess provided, I was able to get pregnant (something doctors said was impossible for me), have a wonderful pregnancy, and now a healthy happy baby boy!
I have been a part of the Arancia family for a while, but now I am officially the newest member of the Arancia Team! I am joining their marketing team to help with making content for social media, the website, and for other ventures! I have a history and a passion for community outreach when it comes to healing and chronic pain, so I am excited to help get Arancia’s message out there! I really align with their message and values which are to provide patients with an individualized, holistic approach to healing. Being a former patient, I know that I have a unique insight and appreciation for Arancia PT and I look forward to being a part of the solution for other new patients to get the help that I was seeking myself not too long ago. You will definitely be seeing me on your social media feeds and hopefully sometime in person as well so I can have the chance to say “hi!”
